Jewish Heritage & Virtual Worlds in Nevis, West Indies

Diana Photogrammetry, Virtual World Environments

We are currently working with David Markus, PhD candidate in anthropology at the University of Florida, to create a virtual world environment of the Jewish Cemetery in Nevis, West Indies. David’s research examines the historical archaeology of the Jewish diaspora. Our collaboration centers on a full cemetery documentation project conducted in June, 2015. In addition to recording new information about the cemetery, DHI documented each grave using photogrammetry.

Each gravestone/tomb will be modeled and fully textured. The resulting models will be integrated into an immersive virtual world environment. Visitors will be able to view photorealistic versions of each grave as well as interact with menus to learn more about the site.
